How to Export Telegram Chat History

Step-by-Step Guide

Install Telegram Desktop

Make sure you have the latest version of Telegram Desktop installed on your computer. Download it from telegram.org/apps if needed.

Export All Telegram Data

Open Telegram Desktop, click Settings > Export Telegram data. This will export all your chats, including photos and other media, in JSON format or beautifully formatted HTML. This tool is particularly useful for users who have millions of messages and can’t easily access the oldest parts of their messaging history.

Export Individual Chat

To export a specific chat, open the chat you want to export, click the … menu (three dots), and choose Export chat history. Select your preferred format (JSON or HTML) and the date range you want to export.

Save Your Data

Once the export is complete, you’ll receive a file containing all your data accessible offline. The HTML format provides a beautifully formatted view of your conversations, while JSON format is ideal for data processing and analysis.
