How to Export WhatsApp Chat

Export Individual Chat Conversations

Step 1: Open Chat

Open WhatsApp and select the chat conversation you want to export. You can export any chat, including individual conversations and group chats.

Step 2: Export Chat

Tap the menu icon (three dots) in the top right corner of the chat screen. Then select “More” -> “Export Chat” from the menu.

Step 3: Choose Export Options

You’ll be prompted to choose whether to include media files in the export:

• Without Media: Exports only text messages (smaller file size)
• Include Media: Exports messages along with photos, videos, and other media files (larger file size)

Step 4: Select Export Method

Choose how you want to share the exported chat:

Method: Using Google Drive Backup

1. Open WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Chat Backup

3. Your chat history will be backed up to Google Drive
4. To restore, uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp, then restore from backup during setup
